About us

“OffTraX” is the story of two people meeting around their shared passion for music, sound and acoustic recording, in the great tradition of Decca performances.

Pierre Jacquot and Olivier Marzullo share their know-how and savoir-faire around projects and acoustic trips to best serve classical, jazz and world music recording.

Mobile by definition, OffTraX is built around the notion of high resolution, carrying in its suitcases a collection of exceptional microphones as well as several very high definition recording systems, adapted to all broadcast or archive formats (PCM 44.1KHz to 384KHz, DXD and DSD256).

PIERRE JACQUOT

After an early childhood in England and training as a pianist, Pierre decided to become an arranger. He quickly changed direction to become a sound engineer and producer, working simultaneously in the studio, on TV sets and on stage. More than 40 years later, he has been the soundman for the French National Jazz Orchestra, Ray CHARLES, Michel LEGRAND, Claude BOLLING, Peter GABRIEL, Phil COLLINS or Deep Forest. He has been the technical supervisor of events such as the FIFA 2010 in South Africa, Jazz In Marciac, the prime time music shows of France 2, as well as the on-air sound of the NRJ MUSIC AWARDS for many years. Today, he devotes himself to acoustic design, training (Abbey Road Institute, Radio France) and writing for the columns of several specialized magazines.

“OffTraX sounds like a choice! I can deliberately and in a complicit way, orient myself towards musical matters that inspire me in the spirit of a charter of excellence and through a palette of tools chosen without concession.”

OLIVIER MARZULLO

Trained as a classical pianist and percussionist, Olivier has long been active in the event industry in France and abroad. In 2010, the need to reconnect with his “musical DNA” and to the audio-professional field led him to develop his own recording studio in the south of France. Resolutely mobile, he is also Parisian in his activity as a trainer and beta-tester for Radio France.

“At the crossroads of our common interest in musical talent, cutting-edge recording techniques or legendary microphones, my meeting with Pierre shaped the desire and identity of this ambitious project.”

WHY DSD?

A bit like 8K video, and ironically ahead of its time, DSD, the historic audio format of SACD (Super Audio CD), allows for a perfectly transparent restitution of sound.

Nowadays, the computer storage capacities and the development of very high speed Internet updates the use of this format on the platforms of HD download (nativedsd.com, …) or HD streaming (Qobuz, Apple lossless, Spotify HiFi, Deezer HiFi), on the Music Player HD of the Audirvana type and on the players of living room or HD walkmans.

Of course, this more than powerful system allows to extract all the declinations and resolutions in force today
